What happened

Macbeth's plot was built as ten steps from the summary read at home; three facts from it came cold, but the from-memory list matched her earlier on-screen lines word for word and is not counted as recall. Ran block 5, 11:01-11:59 (58 min), no break taken; closed with her two-line close on the clock. Starter, no notes, 3 items on the home reading, 11:01-11:11: who persuades Macbeth, what he sees at the feast, who kills him - 3/3 (Banquo not named in the second; the third took 8 min on a 1-minute limit). Teach, summary page open, two cued steps per message with a 3-minute limit, 11:11-11:44 (33 min against 12 planned): 10 steps set, 10 answered, 9 complete; step 7 gave the witches' promise without 'born of a woman'; she then found Macduff's birth as the reason in step 10 without being told. Each pair took 5-9 min. Confirmation, page closed, gap-fill 2/2 (woman; Banquo), 5 min on a 1-minute limit. Apply: ten steps from memory, 8 min - ten lines returned, identical to the teach-phase lines including three misspellings and the uncorrected step 7, with names newly capitalised and one word swapped; the earlier lines were visible in the chat, so the list is not evidence of recall. The tutor said so plainly and set one fresh question in a new form (why Macbeth is wrong to feel safe): correct in her own words in under a minute, 1/1. 26 items set, 26 attempted, 0 blank, 0 'I don't know'. Home reading set: the plot summary once more. Not run: paragraph work, the break, the spelling check sentence; whether Act 1 Scene 3 was read at home was not asked. Sessions 62, 72 and 86 stay open.

Planned next

FIRST (next Macbeth block): the ten steps of the plot cold, before anything is on screen - new chat, summary closed, numbered 1-10, 8 min by the clock; step 7 must carry 'born of a woman'. Fewer than 8: rebuild the missing acts two steps at a time, then re-ask. Then character cards (S1.3), one topic, 12 min, unaided confirmation before the break; take the break. Ask whether Act 1 Scene 3 was read at home. Spelling cold: ghost, friend, decide, panics; one sentence with Macbeth and Thane of Cawdor. BLOCK SHAPE (parent, 6 Oct) stands. HOME READING set 12 Oct: Save My Exams plot summary once more. NEXT POEM BLOCK (as set 8 Oct): the why sentence of the My Last Duchess paragraph first, one message, 2 min, Browning as subject; then 'the Duke's power' into sentence one. Starter cold: who the visitor is and who sent him; the Duke's warning to the next wife; London first line, capital I. Then London background, 5 min.

Unfinished unfinished

Ten steps of the Macbeth plot cold with nothing on screen: 12 Oct's list matched the lines already in the chat, so recall is unverified. Step 7 still lacks 'born of a woman'. Paragraph work not reached; no break taken. Not asked: whether Act 1 Scene 3 was read at home.

What this session changed

TopicNameChangeEvidence recorded
S1.2Gap → Gap12 Oct: taught / confirmed / apply unverified. Cold on the home-read summary, no notes, 3/3 (Lady Macbeth persuades; ghost at the feast; Macduff kills him). Ten steps built page open, two cued per message: 10/10 answered, 9 complete (step 7 lacked 'born of a woman'). Gap-fill page closed 2/2. Ten-step write-out matched her earlier on-screen lines word for word, so not counted as recall. Fresh question, new form: why Macbeth is not safe, right in under a minute, 1/1.
K6.1Gap → Gap12 Oct, typed answers: gost, freind, dicid, panikes, c-secoin, 'thereafter' for hereafter. 'ghost' right on its next two uses after one flag. Capitals: no name capitalised in the starter or steps 1-4; after the rule was named, Banquo 2/2 and Macbeth 0/2, then 0/3 names in the next message; in the final ten-step list Macbeth, Duncan, Banquo, Macduff, Glamis and Cawdor all capitalised ('lady' and 'thane' not). The check sentence with Macbeth and Thane of Cawdor was not set.
