Solving linear inequalities was opened: three worked examples and two guided items solved with valid lines and no hints used. The four unaided items were not run: she asked to stop at 18:08, at the break before them. Ran 16:54-18:08 on a Saturday with no timetable block (extra), non-calc, typed, one item per message, chunks to 17:15, 17:42 and 18:07 with 2-minute breaks between. Cold warm-up 3 of 3 right first time: multiplier for a 15 percent increase (1.15) and a 30 percent decrease (0.7), then 9 - 2(x - 4) = 3x + 2 in five valid lines, x = 3, 7 min. Inequalities, each beside its solved equation: 3x + 2 less than 14 (first line miscopied with the 2 missing, lines 2 and 3 right), 5x - 3 at least 2x + 9 in four valid lines, 2x + 1 less than 5x - 8 ending 3 less than x, then x greater than 3 chosen from two. Checks: numbers fitting x less than 4 and x at least 4 sorted correctly. Is 4 allowed: yes, with the reason only after a narrowed re-ask. The open say-back gave [the numders], then [diffeerent] to same steps or different. x at least 4 was put as [four or less] until she sorted numbers, then [four or more]. Guided, hints offered and not used: 6x - 5 greater than 2x + 7 gave x greater than 3 (4 lines, 11 min). 3x + 10 at most 7x - 2 gave 3 at most x, then x at least 3 with the sign typed as equals-then-arrow, then [x is 3 or greater] (12 min). 19 answers asked for, 19 given, 0 blank: 12 right first time, 3 part right, 1 right on re-ask, 3 not right. Not run: the four unaided inequalities, mixed practice, a two-step angle item, number lines, the error-interval link, negative coefficients. Session 90 unfinished item (topic not opened) is closed. FIRST, finish solving inequalities (A22): four on her own, no hints, one per message, about 10 min each, set in symbols: 4x + 3 less than 19. 7x - 4 at least 3x + 12. 2x + 9 at most 6x - 11, final line x-first. 3(x - 2) greater than x + 8. Mix in one two-step angle item with a diagram and give reasons (G3, owed since 9 Oct). Before them, 5-min cap: one equation with a minus in front of a bracket, worded collect the plain numbers first, then solve (A17, second separate day). Then x at most 2, which of 1, 2, 3, -5 fit, and does it mean two and below, two and above. Method sentence as a fill-in under her own lines. One ask per message. Say in symbols when symbols are wanted. With 3 of 4 right: her answer on a number line and as an error interval (N15), then dividing by a negative. For later: perimeter item with the area asked (A21). First lines on polygon sides (G3) and subject twice (A5). Show-that with x = as its own line (N10).
Solving inequalities: the four on her own with no hints were not set (she stopped at 18:08, at the break before them). Worked examples and both guided items are done. The say-back of the method was not obtained.
