What happened

Four unaided inequalities were solved with every line valid; on number lines the greater-than sign was read as below the number (4 named for x greater than 7, 0 for x greater than 2). Ran 09:15-10:30 on the Monday new-topic block after the 09:00 warm-up; non-calc; typed, with three number lines on paper by photo; one item per message; chunks to 09:38, 10:04 and 10:30 with breaks 09:38-09:46 and 10:04-10:05. Cold: 12 - 2(x - 5) = 4x - 2 in six valid lines, x = 4, 6 min. Numbers fitting x at most 2 sorted correctly, two and below chosen from two, method fill-in answered same. Unaided inequalities 4 of 4, 14 of 14 lines valid, 1 to 4 min each: x less than 4, x at least 4, x at least 5 (turned round from 5 at most x), x greater than 7. Two-step angle item with a diagram: x = 68, both reasons named (vertically opposite, co-interior spelt co-interger), subtraction line written, no degree sign, 18 min. Number lines opened with a diagram of x less than 4 and x at least 4: circle type right 3 of 3 when asked; arrow for x at least 5 answered left, right after three narrowed questions; x less than 2 answered left and open. On paper: x greater than 7 drawn with a filled circle and arrow left, redrawn by her with the arrow right; x at most 3 right first time; x greater than 2 with an open circle and arrow left. 23 asks, 22 answered, 0 blank: 17 right first time, 2 part right, 3 not right; one two-way question was answered with a corrected drawing instead. Stopped on the clock at 10:30 with the last check (0 or 9 for x greater than 2, answered 0) not corrected. Not run: error-interval form, dividing by a negative. Session 94 unfinished work (the four unaided items and the method say-back) is completed. Topic updates (A22, A17, G3) and the lesson review follow in separate calls because the single call returned Bad Gateway.

Planned next

FIRST, close the last question from 12 Oct: which number fits x greater than 2, 0 or 9 (she answered 0 at 10:30, the block ended, not corrected). Ask it again, then is 9 bigger or smaller than 2, then she redraws x greater than 2 on paper. Then four sorts, one per message, picking from two numbers: x greater than 6, x less than 6, x at least 1, x at most 1. Then each sign in words as a two-way choice. Then four number lines on paper, no hints, photo each: x at least 4, x greater than 1, x less than 8, x greater than 5; circle first, one fitting number marked, arrow through it. Do not tell her a rule for the sign. With 3 of 4 right: her answer as an error interval (N15), then dividing by a negative. Solving is done (4 of 4 unaided on 12 Oct): do not re-set it. For later: perimeter item with the area asked (A21); polygon sides (G3); subject twice (A5). Homework 8 (straight lines, due 11 Oct) is still not handed in.

Number lines for inequalities: the last check (which fits x greater than 2, 0 or 9) was answered 0 when the block ended at 10:30 and was not corrected; x greater than 2 is drawn with the arrow pointing left. Not run: error-interval form, dividing by a negative.
