What happened

First structure-question lesson on the Life of Pi hyena extract (June 2023 insert / 2026 sample Q3 'structured the text to create tension'). The opening, turning point and ending were each found under questioning, but the exit paragraph needed frames to name its moment and stay on structure. Ran: starter 3 items (spelling 3/3 unaided; chain steps not named cold: 'What? How? Why?', middle step given as 'what the writer ment' after both ends were supplied; paragraph break 'inside the cafe' correct). Pool piece re-laid with 4 breaks: 3 of 4 shifts found unaided, 'You enter and' after one narrowed prompt. Structure taught through 6 questions, 5 correct; the label foreshadowing was not known ('i don't know'). Exit ticket: first unaided attempt was Level 1 simple and drifted to language ('Described as an ugly beast'). Rebuilt to what/where/why with sentence frames on sentences 1–2 and no frame on sentence 3. 0 blank. Fairground story deferred to a writing block (today's block was reading). Her two lines: "I wrote a paragraph. And next, I am going to do some art."

Planned next

Starter, no notes, one per message: name the three steps for explaining one word (4th time of asking); name the three moments in the hyena extract that build tension, and what foreshadowing and anti-climax mean; spell meant. Then a structure paragraph on the hyena extract's opening or ending, with only the what/where/why checklist and no sentence starters (R3.1). In the next writing block, the fairground story: the mint / hide-or-stay branch with one character shown by one chosen detail (W2.2), one paragraph per exchange. Next timed outing ~6 Oct: description with 'new paragraph every time the camera moves' as the sixth plan line.
