R3.1 Q3: name one structural effect

Currently Developing · last touched 2026-10-21

Sentence 1 gives the lines but not what is happening at that moment; reader effect was given for the ending when the middle was asked. Next: a fresh extract, what / where / why written as headings first, unaided.

Every change

WhenChangeEvidenceSession
2026-10-21Developing → Developingpaper #10 Q2: 2/4, loss=technique — identified the structural shift and its line but not the event at that momentsession 125
2026-10-07Developing → Developing7 Oct starter, cold, no notes: 'An anticlimax is when all the hype in the story is not worth it.' Build-up and let-down both present, 1/1 at first reply (25 Sep needed two tries and sharpening). Retrieval of the term only; no structure paragraph today.session 82
2026-10-05Developing → Developing5 Oct: closed the 25 Sep paragraph, supported. Added sentence 1/1: 'The extract is from paragraph four, line 23-24 and it is the middle' - position exact (checked against the insert), moment not named in words, 'extract' used for 'quote'. Reader effect 1/1 on an abstract ask, no either/or: 'The reader feels disappointed and wanting a more exciting ending' (dictated). Stayed on order and expectation, 0 drift to word choice. About L2, supported; target L3 unaided.session 74
2026-09-30Developing → DevelopingPlacement paper 30 Sep, structure question 2/8 (Level 1), unaided: opening focus named first (cottage), one change of focus (storm), effect generic ('keep the reader wanting to read on'); ending and footprints not named; 0 quotations; 3 sentences in 3 min. No status change from marking.session 59
2026-09-25Gap → DevelopingCorrection (parent, 25 Sep): the 25 Sep audit reversion to gap misapplied the promotion rule — gap and notstarted share level 0, so session 47's notstarted → developing was one level, not two. Session 47 evidence stands: first structure paragraph with frames withdrawn, checklist only, 10-min timer, checklist 2/3, stayed on structure with no drift to word choice, ~L2; taught 23 Sep. Developing bar (taught + supported practice) met.standalone
2026-09-25Developing → Gapaudit: reverted developing → gap — session 47 (25 Sep) raised R3.1 two levels (notstarted → developing) in one session; only one status level may rise per session. Evidence (supported paragraph, checklist only, ~L2 vs target L3) meets the bar for gap; developing proposed pending confirmation next session.standalone
2026-09-25Not started → Developing25 Sep: first structure paragraph with frames withdrawn (0/3), typed, 10-min timer, checklist only. Checklist 2/3: quote given ('ran around the zebra in a circle'), why given (expected attack → nothing → anti-climax); moment not named in sentence 1 (opened with the quote). Stayed on order/expectation, 0 drift to word choice. ~L2 (target L3). Starter: 2/3 moments named cold, ending after one binary prompt; foreshadowing defined cold 1/1.session 47
2026-09-23Not started → Not started23 Sep first teach, Life of Pi hyena extract, 2026 wording 'structured the text to create tension'. Under questioning 5/6 correct: camera on Pi remembering (binary), expects 'attack', found turning point line 21 'Nearly immediately it leapt', effect 'it builds up anticipation' (unprompted), ending: does not attack. Label foreshadowing unknown. Exit: unaided attempt Level 1 simple (no moment named, drifted to language); rebuilt with frames on 2 of 3 sentences.session 42

Exam practice — week 43 · lang, lit, cs — GCSE English Language sectionexam-skills #1022/4What 0: restates the shift, calls the fog 'a strong point', no event. Where 1: line 8. Why 1 of 2: 'big part of the story later' is a valid reader expectation; no link to the calm opening/placing. All three strands addressed unprompted. loss=technique (what, placing link).

Materials

Practice lesson: the 8-mark loop, structure question (example, 30 Sep 2026)
Alternates with the language loop, about 20 min. Same four stages, using her headings what / where / why: the moment, its position (start, turn, end), what the reader thinks there. She must name the ending or pivot unprompted and give a reason for the effect. Round 1 is the open hyena paragraph (session 47). 2026 format: one structural effect. Baseline 2/8 on 30 Sep.

English Language syllabus (Paige, June 2027) — decomposed from AQA 8700

Decomposes spec 3.1.1–3.1.3 into the R/V/W/T/X/E x.y refs in this tracker, with the 34-week scheme of work, dated checkpoints (13 Nov, 11 Dec, 29 Jan, 12 Mar, 30 Apr), terminology set and coverage audit. notes
Branching Story project — stimulus policy
Approved by parent 9 Sep 2026. Paige's own choose-your-own-path story is the default stimulus for UNTIMED W-strand teaching and practice (W1-W4) until Dec 2026. All timed work stays on unseen AQA prompts: Tue 13:00 timed handwritten block, the Nov P1 Q5 check, the Dec P1 mock, and every mock thereafter. Reason: she must stay adaptable to an unseen prompt, not fluent on a rehearsed one.
notes
Placement paper 1 re-work — teaching sequence (parent decision 30 Sep 2026)
Test 3 (lighthouse text) is re-worked in lessons, one question per lesson, re-marked on its stored scheme: (1) language question from her own quotation; (2) structure question, current wording, after the hyena paragraph closes; (3) 20-mark 'do you agree' shape taught here first, then written with hints. Re-marks go in the summary as 'was X, now Y with hints': not an attempt, not promotion evidence. Proof: same three types, unseen text, no hints, in a later Wednesday paper.
