Session 74

2026-10-05 · 2026-W41 ✓ reviewed

What happened

The learner closed the open hyena structure paragraph with its position and a stated reader effect; the step names were not recalled and the fairground branch was not reached. Ran against the creative writing block: 14:16-14:37 inside the block (one starter item of five, which took 21 minutes, then the paragraph task set), a gap of 1h52 with no reply, then 16:29-16:33 after the block had ended (position sentence, reader effect, two closing lines). Starter: step names 0/3 at the 5th cold ask and 0/3 again after she had performed the steps on a tutor-made line; each step was right when asked singly (2/2). Four starter items were cut by the tutor for time. Structure paragraph: she located her quotation at lines 23-24, the middle, which the tutor checked against the insert; earlier logs had treated this quotation as the ending, which was wrong, and her existing last sentence linking it to the anti-climax is accurate. Reader effect given on an abstract ask with no either/or. One spelling slip (meant) in a composed reply. No writing (AO5/AO6) evidence today. 0 blank of 7 questions asked. Session 47's unfinished item is closed.

Planned next

By block. NEXT TIMED HANDWRITTEN BLOCK (Tue 6 Oct 13:00 if it is English Language's turn): the description due about 6 Oct - plan 5 / write 35 / check 5, plan line 6 'new paragraph every time the camera moves', and read that one line aloud immediately before she starts writing. NEXT READING BLOCK (Wed 15:30): no-notes starter capped at 8 minutes by the clock - define anti-climax; say what 'attitude' means; type meant, different and attitude after each aid. Then explain three quotations from a fresh unseen passage, ten minutes, with no step words in the instruction - do NOT ask her to recite the step names. NEXT WRITING BLOCK: the fairground story, mint / hide-or-stay branch - teach 'one character shown by one chosen detail' first with a resource, then one paragraph per exchange (W2.2). Budget every plan on replies of up to 9 minutes each.

What this session changed

TopicNameChangeEvidence recorded
R3.1Developing → Developing5 Oct: closed the 25 Sep paragraph, supported. Added sentence 1/1: 'The extract is from paragraph four, line 23-24 and it is the middle' - position exact (checked against the insert), moment not named in words, 'extract' used for 'quote'. Reader effect 1/1 on an abstract ask, no either/or: 'The reader feels disappointed and wanting a more exciting ending' (dictated). Stayed on order and expectation, 0 drift to word choice. About L2, supported; target L3 unaided.
R2.1Developing → Developing5 Oct starter, 5th cold ask, no notes: 'Word is what, how and why.' (0/3 steps named). On 'The wind clawed at the door', one question per step: suggests 'it's attacking something' 1/1; reader 'the wind is the door's enemy' 1/1. Asked to name what she had just done: 0/3 again (what / how / why). Names given again against her own answers. 'clawed' was also the 21 Sep example, so not a fresh word.
T5.2Gap → Gap5 Oct: 'ment' for meant in a composed starter reply (aid mean + t given 23 Sep; spelled correctly from memory 25 Sep). Aid given again; she was not asked to type it today.
