Session 131

What happened

London's argument (Church and Palace as the blame) was taught and then named by her in a timed answer, and a quoted phrase with an effect appeared twice with no rule stated. Ran block 24, 10:46-11:30 (44 min), one 2-min break at 11:14. Starter cold, no notes, one per message: soldier's sigh feeling - 'tierd out', right with no choice offered for the first time (5 min on a 1-min limit); 1794 - right (4 min on 1); two fresh London lines (mind-forg'd manacles), no pick-a-word rule stated: 'Blake use "mind-forg'd manacles" to show that the people are trapped by belief. The priets tell the people...' - phrase quoted inside her sentence, Blake as subject, priests reached by her, 2/2 (10 min on 2). Teach: two-line direct explanation of Church (stands by) and Palace (sends the soldier to die). Confirm: say-back named both ('the priests and the king, because they both manipulate the people') but not what each did; narrowed to the king/soldier - 'sends the soldier to fight and die in his wars... so it's the king's fault', right. Apply: Q6-shape timed, 5 min set, 9 min taken: 'the people seen tierd out. Blake uses the word "woe" to show that the people are trubled. Blake blames the priests and the king because of their chooses' - 3/4: three sentences, one word quoted inside her sentence with an effect, Blake as subject twice, both institutions named; what each did missing. 6 items set, 6 attempted, 0 blank, 0 'I don't know'. Spelling slips: tierd x2, soldier's (plural), priets, lisen, thats, Blake use, trubled, chooses, seen (seem). Close: one line ('i did english literature, next it spanish'). Not asked: whether The Prelude was read at home (owed since 15 Oct). Macbeth unfinished items (62, 72, 96, 116, 118) unchanged - Monday's block.

Planned next

NEXT POEM BLOCK: starter cold, one per message: who Blake blames (both); what the Church does; what the king does - fewer than 2 of 3 right, reteach before anything new. Ask whether The Prelude was read at home (owed since 15 Oct). Then the why sentence of the London answer rewritten alone, 2 min: both institutions AND what each did. Then the Q6-shape timed again, 5 min, with NO cue under the question - does the three-sentence shape and a quoted word appear unprompted; check in at the 5-min mark. Spell tired, troubled, choices, priests, listen cold, one per message. Ask for TWO closing lines, one per message if one comes. MON 26 OCT MACBETH BLOCK: the open items from sessions 62, 72, 96, 116, 118 stand unchanged - ten plot steps cold on paper first.

What this session changed

TopicNameChangeEvidence recorded
P1.02Developing → Developing22 Oct: context cold 2/2 asked alone (soldier's sigh 'tierd out' with no choice - first time; 1794). Fresh lines, no rule: reached 'trapped by belief' and the priests herself. Taught Church/Palace; say-back named both; timed answer named both as the blame but not what each did. Stays developing; a second session with what-each-did inside the answer is the next check.
K3.1Developing → Developing22 Oct: two unaided items with NO pick-a-word rule stated: (1) fresh lines 'mind-forg'd manacles' quoted inside her sentence with an effect (trapped by belief), 2/2, 10 min on 2; (2) timed answer 'the word "woe" to show that the people are trubled', one word with an effect. First session the quoted word appeared unprompted (15 Oct both had the rule). Stays developing; secure proposed if it holds next session with no cue.
K1Developing → Developing22 Oct: Q6-shape timed answer alone, cue beneath the question, 5 min set, 9 taken: 3/4 - three sentences (what / word+effect / Blake-subject why), the why names the blame but not what they did ('because of their chooses'). First time three sentences self-started under a timer (one sentence on 6 Oct). Stays developing: supported by the cue.
K5Developing → Developing22 Oct: Blake as subject in 4 of 4 sentences that named a doer, incl. two in the unaided timed answer ('Blake uses the word', 'Blake blames'); 0 'they' for the poet. Second unaided task with the writer as subject (15 Oct chat sentences, 21 Oct paper Q6). Stays developing; K5 adjudication still owed.
K6.1Gap → Gap22 Oct typed slips: tierd x2, soldier's for the plural, priets (then priests right), lisen, thats, 'Blake use', trubled, chooses (choices), seen (seem). Right: Blake x4, Palace, London, 1794, priests on the second use, mind-forg'd copied exact. Stays gap. Given back as remarks only; not asked cold.
