Session 105

2026-10-14 · 2026-W42 ✓ reviewed

What happened

Paper #9 literature section: 2/12 over 3 questions, 2 min against a 13-min guide. Q9 London 1/2: valid reading of the people (downcast, sad) but no word or phrase from the lines referred to, though asked. Q10 Ozymandias ending 1/2: effect credited (power no longer lasts), no statement of what the last lines show or the contrast with the boast; one sentence for two marks. Q11 Ozymandias 8-mark paragraph: typed 'skip', 0 min, with 15 min of the paper unused — the instructions named it as the one that gets a first line. 1 not attempted, 8 marks. Nothing from the poem quoted anywhere in the section.

Planned next

Thursday 15 Oct poem block runs as set on 13 Oct (London rebuild, Duchess sentence one, retype, break, Prelude home reading). Add, from paper #9: before the London rebuild, one 2-mark item on a printed pair of London lines where she must pick one word and say what it makes her see — the question said 'refer to a word' and she did not. Then the technique that the 8-marker needs: on a printed poem, copy one quotation and write 'This shows…' in two minutes — a first line, not a paragraph. Ozymandias itself is not a set-text block yet; do not teach it before the anthology order says so, but the 'quotation + This shows' first line transfers to any poem.
