K3.2 structural choice → effect

Currently Developing · last touched 2026-11-01

Paper #10 Q5 (London, everybody → particular people): effect on the reader and the Church/Palace link both missing. Next: one open-form structure-effect ask cold, no cue, on a poem she knows; then the same shape timed.

Every change

WhenChangeEvidenceSession
2026-11-01Developing → Developingadjudicated paper #10 Q5: 1/3, why:bar, developing — portal blank (flagged, 0 min); 1/3 marked from the chat answer typed after close, pending Dad's decision. Either way no move: not attempted on the portal, and the chat answer lost marks to knowledge (Church/Palace link) and technique (no reader effect). Retrieval incorrect.standalone
2026-10-21Developing → Developingpaper #10 Q5: 1/3 (chat answer after close, portal blank), loss=technique/knowledge — saw individuals singled out; no reader effect; no Church/Palace linksession 126
2026-10-15Developing → Developing15 Oct: two open effect asks, cue beneath, full minute, no narrowing: palace walls - king sending soldiers to die (5 min); black church - corruption (3 min). 2/2 on target, both ideas taught 13 Oct so recalled not cold-untold. 0 'I don't know', 0 either/or. Against 0/2 on 13 Oct for the same images.session 109
2026-10-14Developing → Developingpaper #9 Q10: 1/2, loss=technique — effect of the ending stated (power does not last) but not what the lines show or the contrast with the boast; one sentence for two markssession 105
2026-10-08Developing → DevelopingSession 86, 8 Oct: two open effect questions with the cue beneath, no narrowing before either answer. (1) Why the Duke tells this listener: a what-then-why answer in 2 min, specific, on the listener's importance rather than the warning; a narrower follow-up reached the target idea. (2) Book closed, why end on a new marriage: 'what happened to the Duchess might happen again', 4 min, after the tutor had stated the warning. 0 'I don't know', 0 generic; 0 cold untold instances.standalone
2026-10-06Developing → DevelopingLondon rhyme pattern as a fact: 'abab' at once, 1/1. Open effect question with the cue under it ('what Blake does, then why'), 2-minute limit: 'i don't know' after about 4 minutes. Two-way choice (free or trapped): 'trapped' at once. The effect came at the either/or step, not the open one - tenth supported instance, 0/1 on the open form today.session 76
2026-10-01Developing → DevelopingOpen effect question on a new text (why Shakespeare gives Macbeth the witches' words), a minute offered: 'i don't know'. Narrowed once to a two-way choice: correct at once; effect sentence then written from a frame. Ninth supported instance; 0/1 on the open form.session 63
2026-10-01Developing → DevelopingRhyme pattern asked as a fact first: 'ABAB' at once, 1/1. Open effect question straight after, no finish-the-sentence nudge, a full minute offered: 'It makes the peom feel more powerful' - no specific effect, 0/1. Not narrowed; her 29 Sep sentence was given back to her. Eighth instance; none unaided on the open form since 24 Sep.session 62
2026-09-29Developing → DevelopingTest #62 run: asked for a structure FACT first (stanzas/rhyme) - 'i don't know', then '4 chunks' after a picture-the-page scaffold; effect then came on the open form: 'uniform' -> 'the stanzas are all the same, so London feels uniform like rows of prison cells' with one finish-the-sentence nudge. Best structural effect yet, but the fact itself needed a scaffold. Seventh supported instance.session 57
2026-09-28Developing → DevelopingOpen structural question on London's final stanza (deferred from 24 Sep): 'i don't know' x2 on the open form after a full minute; 'hearse' needed defining; 'a beginning' wrong; 'hopeless' reached after a second narrowing. In the paper, the structure question drew a theme ('all of London is under control') with no feature named: 0/2. Sixth supported instance; no unaided instance under a timer.session 50
2026-09-24Developing → DevelopingNarrowed count question: charter'd x2, street/Thames, correct after one off-task answer. Open form with a contrast cue: specific ('even the river is being controlled'). Exit ticket on 'every', book closed, open form: specific effect unaided, 1st unaided instance.session 44
2026-09-17Developing → DevelopingExit ticket open structural question produced a theme restatement ('The poem was built around control'); narrowed once to the repeated word: 'every five times' correct. Fourth supported instance, none unaided.session 30
2026-09-15Developing → DevelopingOpen structural question on stanza 2 produced a theme restatement ('the speaker is in control of what he's saying but not what he's seeing'); narrowed to 'count every' -> 5 -> effect 'makes it feel like this is extremely common'. Structural point reached, but prompted, on a new poem. Third supported instance, none unaided.session 25
2026-09-08Not started → DevelopingSecond instance, different aspect: identified the narrative framing (speaker → traveller → sculptor → king) as distancing that undercuts Ozymandias's demand to be seen, and read the poem's closing line as structural placement. Prompted rather than unaided, so developing not secure.session 12
2026-09-07Not started → Not startedUnprompted structural point: 'Shelley moves from the rubble to the inscription and then the irony of the inscription' — order of presentation linked to effect on reader. One instance only, supported task.session 8

Branching Story project — stimulus policy
Approved by parent 9 Sep 2026. K-strand skills (K1 what-how-why, K3 methods/structure to effect, K5 writer as subject) may be taught first on Paige's own choose-your-own-path story, then transferred to a set text IN THE SAME SESSION. The transfer is not optional. Nothing in S/N/M/P strands is replaced: set texts, the Power and Conflict poems and all timed essays are unchanged. Set-text knowledge time is ring-fenced.

Branching Story — day brief M4 (9 Sep 2026)
Module 4 of the self-paced day. Part A: one what-how-why paragraph about her OWN structural choice, written in the third person ('the writer places the shift at X in order to Y') - one idea developed, not a list (K1, K5). Part B: same sentence shape on Ozymandias, whose nested voices mirror a branching structure, closing the outstanding Shelley 1818 / hostility-to-tyranny context as a clause (P1.01). K3.2 still needs a NEW poem and is not covered here.
