Session 109

What happened

London's background came cold, both why-sentences on its images were written on target with no narrowing, and the two technique losses from paper #9 (a quoted word in a 2-mark answer; a 'quotation + This shows' first line) were each produced inside the stated time with the rule given. Ran block 24, 10:46-11:26 (40 min), one 2-minute break at 11:08. Starter cold, no notes, one per message: 1794; 'the priests and the king'; the next wife 'will be killed' - 3/3, each inside a minute. 2-mark pick-a-word on 'marks of weakness', rule stated first: 'weakness shows that the people have already given up', 2/2 in 2 min. London rebuild, guide open, nothing pasted: the soldier's sigh first given with a reason not in the poem, then 'worn out' after one narrowing. Why blood on the palace walls, cue beneath, open form: king ordering his soldiers to go on death missions - on target, 5 min on 2, no narrowing. Why the church is black: 'currusion in the church' - on target, 3 min, no narrowing. 2/2 unaided against 0/2 on 13 Oct. My Last Duchess sentence one rewritten from her 8 Oct line with 'the Duke's power' named: 'Browning is showing that the Duke's power is quite strong and that means he can get people executed' - clean, 6 min on 3. First line on fresh London lines, 2 min: '"In every Infant's cry of fear," this shows that even the children are afrade' - quotation exact, 1/1. Retype priests, soldiers, because, gifts, above: 5/5 as a list. 11 items set, 11 attempted, 0 blank, 0 'I don't know'. Home reading set: The Prelude extract with its notes. Close: one line. Session 100's owed items are all done; sessions 62, 72, 96 (Macbeth) stay open.

Planned next

NEXT POEM BLOCK: starter cold, one per message: London first line (capital I, thro'); the feeling the soldier's sigh shows; what the next wife must do; three questions on The Prelude read at home. Then a 2-mark pick-a-word on fresh London lines with NO rule stated - does a quoted word appear unprompted. Teach The Prelude as the one knowledge topic, 12 min, guide open, one item per message; unaided confirmation before the break. After the break: London paragraph - three plan lines TYPED in 3 min, the quotation alone on its own line first, then 8 min for three sentences, book closed. HOME READING set 15 Oct: The Prelude extract and its notes once. NEXT MACBETH BLOCK (Mon 19 Oct), as set 12 Oct: ten plot steps cold in a new chat, nothing on screen, 8 min, step 7 with 'born of a woman'; then character cards; spell ghost, friend, decide, panics; ask if Act 1 Sc 3 was read. Home reading: Save My Exams plot summary.

What this session changed

TopicNameChangeEvidence recorded
P1.02Developing → Developing15 Oct: context cold after 2 days, asked alone: 1794 1/1, 'the priests and the king' 1/1, each inside a minute. Pick-a-word 2/2 (weakness = given up), rule stated first. Unaided why-sentences, open form, cue beneath, no narrowing: palace walls (king sending soldiers to die) and black church (corruption) 2/2 on target, 5 and 3 min on 2-min limits, no invented detail; the sigh question first drew a reason not in the poem, 'worn out' after one narrowing. Stays developing.
P1.04Gap → Gap15 Oct: cold after 2 days, asked alone: next wife 'will be killed' 1/1 inside a minute (told 8 Oct, narrowed 13 Oct, cold today). Sentence one rewritten with support (8 Oct line shown, 'the Duke's power' named): 'Browning is showing that the Duke's power is quite strong and that means he can get people executed' - complete, apostrophe right, 6 min on 3. Paragraph three sentences over three sessions, all supported. Developing proposed.
K3.1Gap → Developing15 Oct: two items with a quoted word and an effect. (1) 2-mark pick-a-word, rule stated: 'the word weakness shows that the people have already given up', 2/2, 2 min. (2) Fresh London lines, task 'copy a quotation, then This shows': 'In every Infant's cry of fear, this shows that even the children are afrade' - quotation exact and in quotation marks, 1/1, 2 min. Gap to developing: technique produced twice at the band below target with the rule as the only support.
K3.2Developing → Developing15 Oct: two open effect asks, cue beneath, full minute, no narrowing: palace walls - king sending soldiers to die (5 min); black church - corruption (3 min). 2/2 on target, both ideas taught 13 Oct so recalled not cold-untold. 0 'I don't know', 0 either/or. Against 0/2 on 13 Oct for the same images.
K1Developing → Developing15 Oct: supported. My Last Duchess sentence one rewritten clean with the target word named, 6 min on 3. 'Quotation + This shows' first line on fresh London lines, 2 min, 1/1 - quotation in quotation marks, lower-case 'this' after it. No paragraph set; unaided timed paragraph not run since 6 Oct.
K5Developing → Developing15 Oct: writer as subject in 4 of 4 full sentences unprompted - 'Blake puts...', 'Blake make...', 'Browning is showing...', 'the word weakness shows...'. 0 'they' for a poet. One subject-verb slip ('Blake make').
K6.1Gap → Gap15 Oct: retype priests, soldiers, because, gifts, above - 5/5 as a list (not a sentence). 'priests' right cold (prites/priets on 13 Oct). Slips in typed answers: belives, solders (then soldiers in the retype), missins, currusion, afrade, 'ans', 'Blake make'. Right: Duke's, Infant's, Browning, Blake, palace, executed. Stays gap.
