English Language — Shape C — third timed handwritten Q5 on the record (attempt 7): description of a drained, abandoned pool on an unseen tutor-set 2026-format prompt, 5 plan / 30 write / 5 check, pencil, photographed, ~155 words (~5 wpm), 0 blank, marked 21/40 (AO5 12/24 L2 upper; AO6 9/16 L3 lower) — same total as 8 and 15 Sep, composed differently. Pre-task binary check (description vs story) 1/1. Plan on paper inside 5 min with all five lines; structure line held a setting ('cracked swimming pool') again and was fixed to 'zoom: pool → changing rooms' after a two-option prompt. Piece: senses chosen not listed (chlorine and dust, temperature shift, shoes on tiles, radio crackle), zoom executed, planned last line delivered; but written as ONE unbroken block — the paragraph-at-every-shift skill secured on 15 Sep vanished under the clock — and drifted from description into plot (spider, scream). AO6: zero comma splices for the second timed piece running; commas after fronted clauses accurate; spelling far better (clorin only); lowercase 'all' after a full stop, 'a empty', 'caused'/'came' tense slips. Two-target check (splices, capital after comma): she replied '0' — one number for two targets; verified 0 and 0, so catching was untested. Typed copy afterwards silently corrected 'a empty', 'came' and 'all'. 'chlorine' given with an aid (chlor- as in chloroform) and typed correctly. Her two lines: "I did times handwriting practice. What's next is computer science."

Computer Science — While loops opened from zero and taken to developing: worked example → predictions → production check → Code Lab 'Until you say stop' solved in 2 runs → handwritten exit ticket 3/4. Extra session (no CS block today), elapsed ~12:30–14:35 incl. a movement break of unknown length. Starter 3/3 unaided, 0 blank: running-total trace "1, 3, 6"; temp > 25 at 25 → "fine"; range[1, 6] no colon → "the brackets are wrong and it needs a colon". Worked example (ask until "stop"): line-1 say-back produced code ("for word = stop / print("finished")"), narrowed → "The user types a word."; line 2 → "if it is not equal to, stop. Go again", binary checks cat→in, stop→"no" correct; loop without update predicted "1", guided to "It would get stuck in a loop because a word is still holding cat"; produced word = input() unprompted; print after loop correct. Predictions 2/2 (3 times; "done" for a zero-run loop). Production check: password != "banana" 1/1. Code Lab p05-stop: plan line given first; solved in 2 runs/330s, run 1 missing the second input(), found unaided (practice #46). Exit ticket (bigger than 100, handwritten, 3-item checklist given): key = input () / While key < 100 : / Key = input / print("Done") — structure right, 3/4 indicative; boundary < 100, no int(), While/Key capitalised, input missing (); fix asked → "make it 101". Gate note: the exit ticket needed int() (P17, still a gap) — a planning error, not held against her. P02 third mixed-case handwritten program despite checklist → demoted.

Computer Science — Placement paper 1 (Python), test #1, sat Sun 27 Sep 12:26, 50 of 120 min, closed by her. 19/52 (37%), attempt #9. 22 questions, 0 typed blanks; Q12 part 2 'i don't know' and Q20 part 2 unanswered. Held cold on taught material: 17 // 5 and 17 % 5 → 3, 2 (P08 2/2); "4"+"5" → 45 and int() → 9 (P17 2/2, the 25 Sep misconception did not recur); ord/chr (P16 2/2); syntax vs logic error with line numbers (P28 2/2); bubble first pass 1,4,2,5 (A13 2/3); password loop while password != open / input inside / Welcome after (P05 3/3, quotes and colon missing); cinema bands with correct boundaries but printed instead of stored in price and re-read age (P03 2/3); trace table rows (3,3) (0,4) right, no starting row, output -1 from an extra pass (A07 2/4). Lost on untaught content: data types (P01 0/3: list/list/probability), Boolean combination (P10 0/3: evaluated halves, never combined), 3-argument range (P04 0/2), list/2-D/string ops (P11 0/3, P12 0/2, P15 0/3), random (P18 0/1), subroutines (P19 0/4), binary search done as linear (A10 0/2), merge sort shape only (A12 1/2), decomposition/abstraction (A02, A03 0/2). Test data P27 0/3: all three values correctly classed, no expected behaviour given though the scheme required both — an instruction loss. No status changes: placement marking establishes facts only.
Exam Skills — Technique read of the CS paper 1 placement (test #1, 2 h window, 52 marks, guide 90 min). Started 12:26 Sun 27 Sep, closed by Paige after 50 min — 70 of 120 min unused, 40 min under the 90-min guide. Order: Q1, Q7, Q8, Q10, Q14, Q16, Q17, Q6, Q15, Q19, Q2, Q12, Q13, Q18, Q20, Q21, Q22, Q4, Q5, Q11, Q3, Q9 — jumped around the paper, no flags. 0 typed blanks; Q12(2) 'i don't know', Q20(2) empty. Marks lost to technique rather than knowledge: Q18 0/3 — three correct test-data values with no 'what the program should do', a two-part instruction half answered; Q9 mark 3 — correct logic printed instead of stored in the named variable, and a premise ('age already holds a number') ignored; Q11 last mark — trace continued one pass after the condition was false. Time hog: none — Q9 ran 6 min on a 4-min guide and scored 2/3; every other question at or under its guide. No checking time: closed with 58% of the window unused and two sub-parts empty.

Missed

Nothing was missed this week.

Done, but short

Done, but not the shape the block asked for

A missed block means nothing was logged against it, which is sometimes a logging failure rather than a missed morning. Movement and the review block are never listed here: they are ticked or they are not, and not ticking one costs nothing. A block marked by hand is Dad's word that it happened, counted apart from the blocks the record proves. An extra never offsets a miss; it is counted beside it.

Decisions for Dad

Decided in the review chat, never here. This page has no button that changes the record — tracker_excuse_block and tracker_decide_day_off are Dad's, in chat.

T01 Identity and relationships — divorciarse as a verb in a sentence still owed; whole Set 3 round not before 2 Nov.

T01: el familiar and el marido missed; Sets 2 and 3 of Unit 1 vocabulary still not tested.— Claude, Fri 25 Sep 21:11

Coverage is weighted by status and measured against today's syllabus, so an older week reads against the topics that exist now. The line is the eight weeks ending with this one, scaled to its own range.

In the margin — the week's review

Written, not computed

One note per week, append-only. Version 1 of 1, written by the Friday routine on Friday 25 September at 21:11.

Held

All 23 study blocks were done this week, 0 outright misses, 11 extras. CS moved P17 (int conversion) and P05 (while loops) gap to developing on solid session-45 evidence, and the P04 accumulator finally came out unprompted after three attempts since 18 Sep. Maths held A17 exam-ready twice more; G3 (parallel lines) was taught from scratch, 3/3 guided examples correct. English Language's T1.1 (no comma splices) promoted developing to secure. Three signals reached established: lit's narrow-question-beats-open-question, and CS's say-back-one-line-at-a-time and trace-correct-production-fails.

Slipped

7 of 23 study blocks ran short: every retrieval warm-up bar Monday's landed under half its time (3-6 min against 15), and Monday's new-topic maths block (32/75) and Thursday's Maths/CS deep block (30/65) were both cut well short. CS's P05 had to be reverted from a two-level jump the audit doesn't allow, the same pattern already flagged on P04 and P17 this month. Maths (3.78/4.83 hrs) and Spanish (1.50/2.00 hrs) are both under plan as a result. Lang's structure-paragraph work (R3.1) is stuck for a second time: frames off, level drops near L2, opening still on the quote not the moment.

Next week

Next week opens on maths' mixed practice set (stopped at Q2) and the parallel-lines exit ticket that never ran, plus a second unprompted while-loop production check for CS. Tuesday's timed block is the Lit essay (rotation: Lang Q5 done 22 Sep, then Lit essay, Maths section, CS program). Thursday's deep block falls to computer science this time (even ISO week).
